Only after the burn is cooled, and only on unbroken skin: a very thin layer of pure cow ghee, once or twice a day. Never on a fresh burn, a blister or broken skin — fat holds the heat in.
Traditional
नारियल का तेल · Coconut oil
Once the skin has cooled and closed, a little coconut oil keeps the new skin from drying and cracking. Not on an open or weeping burn.
Traditional
हल्दी · Turmeric
Half a teaspoon of haldi in warm milk supports healing from within. Do not put turmeric powder on an open burn — it is not a dressing and can carry infection in.
Traditional
CautionThe amount used in cooking is safe. In tablet or extract form it does not go with blood-thinning medicines. Avoid larger amounts if you have gallstones. Stop before surgery.
शहद · Honey
Hospitals dress burns with medical-grade honey; kitchen honey is not sterile and is not the same thing. Keep it for eating, and let a doctor dress anything bigger than a coin.
Traditional
CautionNever give honey to a baby under one year — the risk is infant botulism. This rule has no exceptions.
आलू · Potatoes
Lay thin raw potato slices on the burn for twenty minutes — but only after twenty minutes under cool running water first.
